The Difference Between Different Fabrics

Why Filter Bag Material Matters​ Selecting the correct filter bag material is critical for durability, filtration efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The wrong choice can lead to premature failure, downtime, or safety risks. Below, we break down key materials used in industrial filtration.

1. Nylon (Polyamide)​​

​​Pros​​: Excellent abrasion resistance​​ for slurries with abrasive particles.​​ Good oil resistance​​ (ideal for lubricant filtration).
​​Cons​​:Poor resistance to strong acids/bases. Limited filtration precision (5-10 microns). ​​Absorbs moisture​​ (up to 4% in 80% RH), causing pore blockage in humid systems.
2. Polyester (PET)​​
​​Pros​​:Excellent chemical resistance to weak acids (pH <000000>ge;4). Handles short-term exposure temperatures up to 150°C . Affordable and widely available.
​​Cons​​:Vulnerable to hydrolysis in high humidity. Not suitable for alkaline environments.
3.Polypropylene (PP)​​
​​Pros​​: ​​ Resists <000000>le;70% sulfuric acid at 25 °C  ​and bases up to pH 14​ . Hydrophobic​​: Minimal swelling in water. ​​Low cost​​, disposable option.

4. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)​​
​​Pros​​:Exceptional chemical resistance (pH 0-14). Withstands extreme heat (260°C continuous). Negligible moisture absorption (<000000>le;0.01%).
​​Cons​​:High cost and low abrasion resistance. Requires specialized sewing techniques.
5. PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)​​
​​Pros​​: Resists organic solvents​​ (ketones, esters). ​​Low moisture absorption​​ (<0.1%).
​​Cons​​:

Degrades in >10% chlorine or nitric acid concentrations

Max 95°C​​ in liquids environments (dry use up to 190℃).
